Did you know that plastic surgeons are hand surgeons, especially for the soft tissues like tendons and nerves? This is similar to when when you break a bone in your face, you see a plastic surgeon and not a bone doctor.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is when there is pressure on the median nerve at your wrist. This pressure causes numbness, tingling, and sometimes pain in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and half of the ring finger. The small finger gets its sensation from another nerve.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated by wearing a splint, steroid injections, and if it is severe then a carpal tunnel release is performed to fix the problem. Dr. Wright performs injections in his offices and carpal tunnel releases a Crozer-Keystone Surgery Center at Brinton Lake and Riddle Hospital.

Trigger fingers occur when the tendon that allows the finger to move gets stuck under a pulley in the palm. Treatment consists on steroid injections to free it up, and when the problem is severe a surgical procedure called a trigger finger release can allow you to regain function of your hand. Dr. Wright performs injections in his offices and trigger finger releases at Crozer-Keystone Surgery Center at Brinton Lake and Riddle Hospital.
